2018 Mount Carmel Block Party is gonna be bigger and better than ever!

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The 31st Mount Carmel Block Party will be kicking off the Fun Fest Season on Saturday, July 7th from 4:00  – 11:00 on Main Street in Mount Carmel, TN.  This year’s Block Party promises to be an even bigger event than last years with lots of fun for the community of Mount Carmel.

This year’s Block Party will feature four bands on the big stage! Railway Express, Stone Creek Four, The Benny Wilson Band and Asylum Suite will perform along with Matt “Elvis” Dollar who will take to the small stage with his Million Dollar Band during set changes.  The Miss Mount Carmel 2018 Contest registration begins at 10:00 am and the Pageant begins at 11:00 am at the Mount Carmel Senior Citizens Center on the second floor of Mount Carmel City Hall.  The popular Car Show will be back this year with a special reserved section for motorcycles, the first 200 entries receive a Mount Carmel Block Party Dash Plaque.  The Kidz Zone will feature a carnival-like atmosphere with games, inflatables and at dusk will feature a Kidz movie – Sherlock Gnomes on the big screen.  Wrestling is back this year, and the Ricky Morton School of Wrestling will have a big ring with several notable wrestlers participating.  There will be multiple food vendors/trucks and Dairy Cup will be open during the Block Party.  Area employer Brock Group will have a job fair tent with information about their current job openings.  2018 Block Party T-Shirts are available beginning June 22nd at Mitchell’s Drive Thru or at the Horizon Credit Union Branch in Mount Carmel.

Horizon Credit Union opened a new branch in Mount Carmel in 2016 and vowed to bring back the Mount Carmel Block Party.  Beverly Boling, President/CEO of Horizon Credit Union explained that, “Horizon Credit Union knew how important the Block Party was to Mount Carmel. For years it was one of the most popular Block Parties to kick off Fun Fest.  The Mount Carmel Block Party had been on a four-year hiatus and Horizon Credit Union wanted to be a leader in the return of this great event.  We wanted to be a good neighbor and show commitment to the community by working to bring the event back to life.”  Beverly also explains that, “This year we are excited to announce that Eastman Credit Union is going to be the exclusive sponsor of the Mount Carmel Block Party Fireworks!  Many other Mount Carmel Merchants have also thrown their support behind the Block Party and with their help, we hope to make it bigger and better each year!”

Please make plans to attend the Mount Carmel Block Party and enjoy the festivities!  It all starts at 4:00 pm with the Hawkins County Sherriff’s Department presentation of Flags and Horizon Credit Union employee Melissa Dishner singing the National Anthem.  The concerts start at 4:45 so get there early to place your lawn chair.

Don’t forget to bring the Kidz a lawn chair or blanket to enjoy the movie.  Please leave your pets at home, it’s just too hot for them.
Car Show participants can enter at the Builder’s First Source intersection beginning at 2:00.  There will be plenty of food, fun, and enjoyment for everyone!!
